In Buddhism, Parinirvana is the final nirvana, which occurs upon the death of the body of someone who has attained complete awakening. It implies a release from the bhavachakra, Samsara, karma and rebirth as well as the dissolution of the skandhas. Parinirvana is also sometimes called Maha-parinirvana, which means Great Final Nirvana. Kushinagar is a town in the Gorakhpur district of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It is an important Buddhist Pilgrimage site, where Gautama Buddha attained Parinirvana after his death.
